Top 10 Ways to teach Basketball for kids
Basketball is a team sport that is played using our hands. Basketball played on a court with two competing teams each having five players each. It's not only a sport but also a way to do exercise instead of heading to a gym. We can teach basketball to children from the age of four years and above either as a sport or a career. In the tax credits phone number, the main basic skills to we can teach children about basketball include the following:
1. Dribbling - This is one of the first and most important skills to learn about basketball. The child should always practice using a regular size ball even thou it may look to big for him to handle. The child should use his/her finger tips to bounce the ball on the floor continuously in order to strengthen his/her fingers. This is because one of the basketball rules is to dribble the ball using fingers and not the palm of your hand.
2. Passing - As basketball is a team sport, you should always teach the child to pass the ball and to avoid staying with the ball for a long duration. In basketball, they should learn to basic passes. The first pass is known as chest pass whereby the ball is not allowed to touch the floor. This pass is usually done using both hands direct to the chest of your team mate. The second pass is known as the bounce pass. It is executed using the court. The floor is the target position of the ball, the ball is thrown on the floor in order to reach the other team mate around his/her waist hereby allowing the team mate to catch it.
3. Shooting - The types of shots in basketball include; set shot, jump shot and lay up shot.

How To Improve Our Jumping Ability in Basketball
Improving our jumping ability is one of the main key factors if we want to
excel in the sports of basketball. Great jumping ability can totally give us an
edge in offense and defense. It can give us more effectiveness in shooting,
blocking and rebounding. But we also know that not everyone is gifted of high
jumping ability. So in this posts I just want to list three of the simple
exercises that we need to do for us if we want improve our vertical leap so that
we can play much better in basketball.
Jumping Ropes – Jumping rope exercise not only can increase
the height of your jump, but it can also improve your endurance, strength and
you foot speed. It can totally improve your jump reflexes which can help especially in your
blocking defense in basketball.
Calf Raises - I believe, this is one of the most popular
simple exercise in improving our jump. Do you know that our calf muscles are
very important to give us the final lift-off from the ground whenever we are
jumping. That’s why it’s better to strengthen our calf muscles. To do this while standing, raise in a surface with only our toes. Let our heels hang off as
far as we can, rise as high as possible on your toes and hold the high position
for three to five seconds and then do back to normal standing position to
complete one repetition. We should perform at least 20 repetitions of three to
four sets. We can improve our calf muscles faster if we do it at least 3 days a
week, on alternating days.

The Importance of Rebounding in Basketball
“The one who controls the rebound controls the game”
If you ever watch slam dunk anime series until the end then I'm sure already knew the meaning of that quote. If you don't know or you just forgot, It’s the quotable quotes that Takenori Akagi gave to Hanamichi Sakuragi for him to think that rebound is an important part of basketball and it's very crucial for a team to win games. This quote really helps Sakuragi to realized that his rebounding skill can be the main key for them to win. But let’s get back to reality in playing basketball, does rebounding really one of the most important thing in basketball? If your still new in playing basketball then here are the reasons that I just read and learned in my basketball experience about why rebounding serves an important role in winning basketball games.
- Being good in rebounding the ball can give your team more opportunities to shoot while you also able to lessen your opposing team to score. Because being skilled in rebound can give your team more possessions in the ball which means a more chance for your team to score.
- Being skilled in rebounding can help improve your team’s scoring percentage, Just like an offensive rebound are a put-backs score from a close in. Also getting fast defensive rebounds with the help of great pass can lead your team in a fast break opportunity to score. This really makes your team improve and get better in scoring percentage.
- Great rebounding can give your team lots of free throw opportunity because it will make the other team get trouble inside the feint area especially if your good team are good at boxing out, which will make them really frustrated to get the ball and will cause them to make a loose ball foul.
- Rebounding skill is actually a combination of offense and defense and can totally lead you to win basketball games.
Rebound is totally a big part of basketball. At first when I play basketball I just always practice my skill in shooting and dribbling but never got interested to improve my skill in rebound. But now I learn that being great in rebounding is an important key too for you to win games in basketball. So if your playing basketball and you think your not good in shooting the ball or dribbling the ball, maybe its time for you to start improving your skill in rebounding because you should always remember that “The one who controls the rebound controls the game”.

Here in this post, I just want to share a simple steps on how we can easily treat and increase the time of recovery for this two most common injuries in basketball :
- Protect - We need to protect the injured area by making sure that we make it steady by using a brace. It is more effective in jammed finger injuries.
- Rest – Of course this is important, we really need to rest the injured area to not worsen our injury.

It is better if we put an ice to our injured area once in an hour for 15 minutes and decrease the ice-intervals as time goes by.

How To Do Crossover in Basketball
If you’re playing basketball I’m sure you already knew this move already. Crossover move is kind of dribble in basketball in which a player switches the ball rapidly fast from one hand to the other, to make a suddenly fast change of direction for you to get pass through your defender easily. This is my favorite move in basketball, I’m not saying I’m really good at it but at least I think I can do decent killer crossover just like what you are seeing in image gif on the right side . I’ve heard that the first nba player who do the crossover dribble is the nba legend Oscar Robertson but I’m not sure about that I just heard it from my friends. What I’m sure is that Tim Hardaway was the one who popularized the killer crossover in nba. But for me Allen Iverson is really the best in crossover dribble but that was just my opinion. Anyway I just created this post because I just want share some steps in how to do a crossover move just in case you want to learn how to do it.
Here it is :
1. First, while facing your defender you need to dribble the ball in your most dominant hand. let’s use your right hand for example
2. While dribbling using your right hand take a sudden step or a sudden wide step using your right foot. This is for the purpose of deceiving your defender faking him that you’re going to the right side direction. It will be much effective if you add it with a head fake.
3. Once your defender fall from your trap when he get to move to the right direction that you pretend to, Switch and dribble the ball rapidly to your left hand, you need to do it very quick and low in front of your defender.
4. While doing it take a fast step using also your right foot but going toward to the left side direction, this will make you change your direction from the right going to the left. This will totally surprise your defender because he thought your going to the right direction but actually going to the left side.
5. Doing all of that, you can now drive to the basket easily leaving your defender behind, And that’s all, now you can do the crossover dribble.
TIPS
It’s better if you can only do it twice in front of your defender inside the game because if you do it a lot of times in front of him the defender may predict it easily and intercept it and steal the ball from you.
Always remember that crossover dribble is just a one way to pass through your defender. It won’t guarantee you to score easily, coz the fact in basketball is that “THERE’S NO SCORE IN DRIBBLE” no matter how cool or fancy the way you dribble the ball you won’t get any score from it that’s why you need to learn everything about basketball starting from the basic if want to excel from it.
If everything else fails in trying to follow this step or you can’t just understand what I’m saying in this step LOL! you can try to search and watch Allen Iverson crossover, I’m very sure you will learn from him.
