The Importance of Rebounding in Basketball

If you ever watch slam dunk anime series until the end then I'm sure already knew the meaning of that quote. If you don't know or you just forgot, It’s the quotable quotes that Takenori Akagi gave to Hanamichi Sakuragi for him to think that rebound is an important part of basketball and it's very crucial for a team to win games. This quote really helps Sakuragi to realized that his rebounding skill can be the main key for them to win. But let’s get back to reality in playing basketball, does rebounding really one of the most important thing in basketball? If your still new in playing basketball then here are the reasons that I just read and learned in my basketball experience about why rebounding serves an important role in winning basketball games.

• Being good in rebounding the ball can give your team more opportunities to shoot while you also able to lessen your opposing team to score. Because being skilled in rebound can give your team more possessions in the ball which means a more chance for your team to score.

• Being skilled in rebounding can help improve your team’s scoring percentage, Just like an offensive rebound are a put-backs score from a close in. Also getting fast defensive rebounds with the help of great pass can lead your team in a fast break opportunity to score. This really makes your team improve and get better in scoring percentage.

• Great rebounding can give your team lots of free throw opportunity because it will make the other team get trouble inside the feint area especially if your good team are good at boxing out, which will make them really frustrated to get the ball and will cause them to make a loose ball foul.

• Rebounding skill is actually a combination of offense and defense and can totally lead you to win basketball games.

Rebound is totally a big part of basketball. At first when I play basketball I just always practice my skill in shooting and dribbling but never got interested to improve my skill in rebound. But now I learn that being great in rebounding is an important key too for you to win games in basketball. So if your playing basketball and you think your not good in shooting the ball or dribbling the ball, maybe its time for you to start improving your skill in rebounding because you should always remember that  “The one who controls the rebound controls the game”.

Akashi Seijurou’s Ability Revealed

Finally! the captain of generation miracles Seijurou Akashi revealed his true ability!!! damn! I’ve waited so long for this. All this time I’m really curious about what power he really possess and why this little guy became the captain of the GOM. So  thanks to this latest chapter now I know what it is.

This latest chapter is the continuation of the match between the team of Shintaro Midorima of  Shutoku High versus Rakuzan High which is the team of Akashi. As the game begin its second half, Akashi finally decided that he will be the one who’s going to guard Shintaro Midorima another member of generation miracles.

We all know that the Air jordan I, the first signature shoes of the legendary nba player Michael Jordan is totally one of the most popular shoes of all time. Because of that even the japanese manga author Takehiko Inoue was influenced by this shoes wordwide popularity and put it to his own very popular manga and anime series titled Slam Dunk. It was the second shoes used by the main character of this series named Hanamichi Sakuragi, which made this really one of my favorite shoes of all time.

To all Kuroko no Basket fan! I’m sure you already knew this guy . But if you still don’t even know or read Kuroko no Basket yet! then you’ll probably missing something cool! especially if you’re a basketball fanatic like me. For your information, Kuroko No Basket is japanese manga and anime series about basketball. I totally recommend this series especially if you read manga’s and love to play basketball too.

 

Anyway! I just want you to know who is Kiyoshi Teppei of Kuroko No Basket. For me he’s one of the most interesting character in Kuroko no Basket series. He’s one of the senior  member of Seirin basketball team and actually the one who founded it. He was also the former ace player of Seirin but got injured and hospitalized for so long that’s why he didn’t played in the first few matches of Seirin when Kagami and Kuroko entered the team.

Talking about his basketball skills as a player, Kiyoshi Teppei is the tallest member of  Seirin so he is center their team. At first look, you will think that he’s just a normal player who played center position but it’s not. Because the truth is that he is a very odd player who is so hard to predict because Kiyoshi despite being in a center position has also possess a great passing and dribbling ability that a point guard has, which make him a very big threat in every team that he played. It’s proven when he played in a point guard position in their match against Yosen.

Kiyoshi is one of the underrated player in the series despite of his great skill. That’s why he was also one of the member of “Uncrowned Kings”. One character in the series named Iwamura mentioned that he is actually the second strongest center in the league behind Kiyoshi’s greatest rival Atsushi Murasakibara.

Kiyoshi was not just called as “Iron Heart” for nothing beecause actually he is a very determined person and has “never say die” personality. He always willing to sacrifice everything even though  it might worsen his injury just to help his team to win, that’s also the reason why Murasakibara hates him so much. And even though sometime his team was being down my many points in a game, he still smile and always said a catchphrase “Let’s have some fun” during a game. He seems a bit goofy and bit weird at first look but during a game he is totally a very smart and skilled player who love and enjoy playing basketball and that’s what makes him a very special player in this series.

Ryota Miyagi

Now I just want to talk about who is my most favorite point guard in the world of Slam Dunk series. Talking about point guard in Slam Dunk we all know that there is bunch of them. Of course! because obviously in every team of basketball there must be at least one point guard in it. A point guard is a very important role in a team because he is the one who make plays or strategies, he’s the one who lead the team and the one who make passes, he is also the one who should carry the ball most of the time, so he must be good at dribbling the ball. In other words point guard position is the main brain of the team inside the court. In slam dunk we all know that there are so many bad-ass point guard in this series like Akira Sendoh, Shinichi Maki, Kenji Fujima, Fukatsu and many more. But for me my most favorite point guard in the series is no other than Ryota Miyagi.

Ryota Miyagi a.k.a Ligthning or Shorty was the starting point guard of the Shohoku Team where Hanamichi Sakuragi playing. He’s only second year, 5’6 inch in height,. He always claim himself that he is the number one point guard in the prefecture and was greatly in love with ayako who is the manager of their them.

Shintaro Midorima

Here I go again writing a blog post about one of the character of Kuroko no Basket but I can’t help myself because this basketball manga series is totally a insane! that's why so you can’t blame me for being so addicted to this series.

I make this post because I want to introduce to you an another bad-ass character of Kuroko no Basket his name is Shintaro Midorima. Midorima is one of the five member of Generation of Miracles and currently playing at Shutoku High. He was the second member of generation of miracles to show in the series next to Ryota Kise.

Talking about his abilities in basketball I must say that this guy long range shooting skill is definitely insane! He’s a lefty (lol! just like me) and if you ask me about his long range skill you must also need to ask me how long or how far?? because this guy can just shoot the ball on the other side of court so easily. He's a great three point specialist and can shoot anywhere and he shoot the ball so high that it takes a time for the ball to reach the basket so that he can have a plenty of time to get back on defense so that he can easily stop and cover the fastbreaks and counter-attacks of the opponent. But that’s not his only strength because his also great at defense, very fast, strong and a very smart player no wonder why he’s one of the member of Generation of Miracles. He’s so good in faking a shot also known as pump fake. This guy rarely miss a shot and I actually only seen him missed one or two times in the series.

Midorima is a very serious person who didn’t like to make joking around to other people. What makes him funny for me is that he is so possessed of zodiac-signs and horoscopes who totally believe in it to the point that he even always carry a lucky item everywhere he goes especially if there is a game. Compare to Ryota Kise, Midorima can’t stand Kuroko so much unlike Kise who obviously like him. It is because Midorima still acknowledge Kuroko’s skill in basketball despite of his lack of physical capabilities which makes kuroko weak. He also thinks that kuroko is stupid because he chose to play for Seirin who can even use his full ability as a player. Later on in the series Midorima change his way of playing and became an unselfish player who began playing as a team and started to enjoy basketball compare to the past which he was very prideful, serious and never relied on his teammate.

Kaede Rukawa

Year: 1st Year

Height/Weight: 187 cm, 75 kg

Jersey Number: #11

Position: Small Forward

I’m sure you knew this guy but only if you already watch slamdunk in anime or read it in manga. Kaede Rukawa is one of the main character in Slamdunk anime/manga series in japan. If you asked me about his basketball skill in the series, all I can say is that this guy is a beast in basketball. I think he is one the reason why I got fascinated in playing basketball. I think I’m just only 10 years old when I started watching slamdunk and I can still watch it over and over again because it’s really one of my favorite.

Aomine Daiki

If you already started watching Kuroko No Basket in anime and you want some spoiler, then it’s okay for you to continue reading this post but if you don’t want some spoiler then don’t read this post at all LOL!.

Daiki Aomine is one of the Five Generation of Miracles that mention in the series and he is the first light of kuroko tetsuya before Taiga Kagami. He is the former ace player of Teiko middle school basketball team which mean we can say that he is the top player among Generation of Miracles. Aomine is now the ace player of Too Gakuen High the first team who beat the team of tetsuya kuroko and kagami’s Seirin High. He is a good friend of Tetsuya Kuroko before because they both love to play basketball so much but later Aomine change his attitude in basketball that’s why Tetsuya decided to leave Teiko’s Basketball Team later in Championship Finals when they are in middle school. He was third member of Generation of Miracles that revealed in the series after Kise and Midorima.

 

Aomine’s personality is somehow complicated because at first as Tetsuya mentioned, he was a happy person before who love to play basketball so much and always smile while playing it. But Aomine became stronger and stronger every day while playing basketball, his improvement is very fast compare to his teammates because he is really a genius in basketball because of that he came to the point that he destroyed every teams opponent’s will to play because of how good he is when they play with him, That’s why he started to feel sad and feel bored in basketball because he can’t find any player and team to match with him and or a good rival that will makes him to play all out. He got tired of waiting and searching of some worthy opponent and he realized that he is simply the strongest and started to believed that “The only one who can defeat him, is only himself” and then he became very arrogant until he met Taiga Kagami later in the series.

 

If your wondering of how good he really is in playing basketball, I will say he is totally a beast! I can compare him to Slamdunk’s character Kaede Rukawa or Eiji Sawakita or maybe much better than them. He’s playing style is very unpredictable, he can play any position, His abilities can be described as extremely fast, extremely strong and extremely skillful. He got many weird shot that you don’t think will fall in basket. It is said that Aomine never has a non-changing movement, be it passing, dribbling or shooting. His play is described as limitless.

I won’t tell anything more about him here in this post, maybe you should watch Kuroko No Basket and wait him in anime or you can read it in manga. I’m sure you will enjoy it when you see it, Kuroko No Basket is really a great basketball series, no doubt about it.

To Anime and Basketball Fanatic

To someone who don't know anything about this anime or manga series but you're an avid fan of basketball and anime. I really highly recommend this series for you, it's a manga series written by Takehiko Inoue it's about a basketball team from shohoku high school. It was serialized from japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series. It's very popular in japan and many other asian countries as well as europe.

 

The series centers around the life of the main character named Hanamichi Sakuragi. He's a deliquent young high school student who is good for nothing other than fighting. Sakuragi is a hopeless romantic guy who already got rejected 50th times by every girl. He then met Haruko Akagi whom he fell in love with immediately. Haruko is the one who encouraged Sakuragi to join the basketball team. On that team Sakuragi met his team captain Takenori akagi who is also the older brother of haruko and kaede rukawa  a very popular and talented player and also a freshman like sakuragi whom he really think as his greatest rival in basketball and for the love of Haruko, later in the series he also met his other great teammate ryota miyagi a very fast and skilled point guard and Hisashi Mitsui a former mvp and a great three point specialist.

There so many great things about this series because it's really full of fun and epic moments. It's imposible for you to not even make a single laugh just by seeing this series, Especially Hanamichi Sakuragi who always think and very proud that his a great Basketball Genius but actually at first he's only a beginner who know nothing about basketball and almost every people in this series called him an idiot! :D

But the most exciting part about this series is the way how Hanamichi Sakuragi grow as a great player little by little because of his hard work and his endless determination. This series is definitely inspiring, it's all about friendship, hardwork, dream, team work, leadership and many more. It is also one of the reason I got more addicted into basketball. I hope you try this series because for me it's really one of the best series i've ever seen. :)
